37th Annual Painting Competition
37TH ANNUAL PAINTING/DRAWING COMPETITION – Saturday 9th May 2026
The Gibraltar Heritage Trust will be holding its 37th Annual Painting Competition on Saturday 9th May 2026 on this year’s theme the ‘WWII Tunnels’. The Trust is proud to collaborate with Wright Tech Media and invite artists to the Tunnels, Gibraltar’s WWII experience. Participants will have the opportunity to work inside the tunnels themselves, and we feel they offer a dramatic backdrop that promises to inspire artists with bold interpretations and unique perspectives of a compelling part of Gibraltar’s history. The Trust hopes this year’s theme will challenge artists to explore the site, whilst also drawing attention to the importance of preserving Gibraltar’s built heritage.
Registration of participants will take place on the day on site between 9:00am and 12:30pm. Those who wish to pre-register are encouraged to do so via our online form, but must also attend registration on the day to have their painting(s) stamped.
With the exception of school participants, painting/sketching must take place on location on the day between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Any type of traditional artistic media will be accepted but must be respectful to the site e.g., spray paint could stain. Participants must supply their own set up and art materials. Entry(ies) should not be larger than 76cm x 60cm.
On completion, participants will be required to hand in their entries to a representative of the Gibraltar Heritage Trust at the Gibraltar Heritage Trust Office at 13 John Mackintosh Square. All entries must be handed in by the deadline of 5:00pm. Kindly familiarise yourself with our Rules and Regulations 2026 to enter the competition which can be viewed and downloaded on our website or available to collect from our office.
