Launch of Views & Vistas protection document

Today sees the launch of our draft document on Protected Views (click to download) which we have collaborated on together with the Environmental Safety Group (ESG) and the Gibraltar Ornithological and Natural History Society (GONHS).

This draft document has already been presented to Government for initial views and we now put it out to public consultation and comment with a view to formally submitting it to the DPC as a case study and framework for protecting key views and vistas.

Comments on the draft can be submitted to the Gibraltar Heritage Trust offices at 13 John Mackintosh Square, or via email: heritage@gibraltar.gi

The main purpose of the document is to highlight the fact that visual access to many of our iconic monuments and buildings is being lost behind the ever increasing number of high rise buildings appearing in Gibraltar’s skyline.

The Trust will be hosting the second of our quarterly debate evenings on Tuesday 3rd May, 18:30hrs at the Main Guard on the theme 'In your face? How high is too high for Gibraltar's urban landscape'. The event is open to the public and entrance is free.
