Illustration Workshop 'Lest We Forget'

The Gibraltar Heritage Trust is collaborating with Illustrator Eleanor Dobbs from the Rock Retreat to hold an illustration workshop on Thursday 10th November from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Main Guard in the lead up to Armistice Day on 11th November. Our theme ‘Lest We Forget’ aims to shed light on the memory of fallen Gibraltarian soldiers who were involved in the war effort in the World Wars of the last century. We will be sharing their stories and reproducing their photographs as sketches. With the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, remembrance is being felt in the national consciousness, and with the The Gibraltar Government having just announced the wreath laying in Parliament lobby on Friday 11th November for Armistice Day, this workshop is the perfect way to bring people together to look back at the past as well as family memories.

The Rock Retreat Gibraltar is a 5 day creative residency for emerging writers and artists who’s aim is to create books for children and young adults. The first retreat took place earlier this year in May and was a great success! Eleanor Dobbs, who will be leading this workshop, is a highly commended children's book illustrator and is one of the founding members of the retreat, "We reached out to emerging writers and artists and we were rewarded with the most exciting applications from all over the world. People responded to our wish to be face to face, connecting and developing our craft together. Gibraltar generously delivered warmth and welcome, the attendees affirmed to me the beauty of our common bonds as storytellers."

We are very lucky to have Eleanor host this workshop. Follow Eleanor on her social media!

We therefore encourage forces families in Gibraltar to take part.

Participants are invited to bring photographs of their own family members to reproduce, however we will have resources available if you do not have images to bring.

Furthermore, we will be asking for a contribution of £8 to be donated to this charity and to the Heritage Trust upon your registration or at the workshop.

Register your interest via email to exec@gibraltarheritagetrust.org.gi. Space is limited therefore we recommend that interested individuals book a place as soon as possible.
