Concern Over Works at Listed Heritage Site
The Gibraltar Heritage Trust is deeply concerned about activities currently taking place on the southern side of the Charles V Wall. To our knowledge, the works are not subject to a Planning Application nor have they applied for a Heritage Licence.
Concerns were first raised with Government last week, following which assurances were given that works had been halted. However, late last night further heavy machinery was observed being delivered to the site, raising renewed alarm over the situation.
The area in question forms part of Flat Bastion, a 16th-century fortification which is listed under the Heritage and Antiquities Act 2018, and is bounded by the equally statutorily protected Charles V Wall, a landmark of national importance.
The Trust continues to press Government for clarification.
